”A Time of Refreshing”
(You may apply to attend at the bottom of this page.)
One of the goals I’ve had for ministering after retiring from 40 years as Senior Minister at Southeast Christian Church is to spend time encouraging younger preachers. For that reason I plan to conduct monthly retreats at Country Lake Christian Retreat Center for eight ministers who serve in similar circumstances or have some affinity for one another.
We will devote two and a half days listening to seasoned preachers, learning from church leaders, and sharing with each other about our high calling. There are dozens of pastor’s retreats where you can hear some excellent speakers, but this is a rare opportunity for you to be in a small group and ask questions of the leaders and discuss your individual situation.
February 2010 Mentoring Ministers Retreat with Bob Russell
We will spend the mornings talking about ministry. The afternoons will feature various activities including educational tours of local businesses, churches and other attractions. We will eat dinner at a nice restaurant on Tuesday. Wednesday evening Judy and I will be your host in our home and spend some time talking with you about "the minister and his family." We hope the two days will be inspirational and restful for you.
Country Lake is located in Henryville, Indiana, 30 minutes north of Louisville. The accommodations are first class---individual rooms are very comfortable, the food is great and the surroundings are beautiful. Here’s the best part - the cost of this retreat, which would be nearly $800 each, has been completely covered by generous donors. The only cost you are expected to cover is your transportation.
Click on the link below to apply for one of the retreats. Obviously the available slots are limited but we will do our best to accommodate as many as we can. If you are selected to attend you will need to send a $500 deposit guaranteeing your participation. That check will be returned to you if you attend the entire session. Although our intent is for this event to be free, the deposit is intended only to prevent no-shows or early departures. If you are not able to come or you must leave early, the money will be used to help finance the retreat for others.
Retreats begin at 5:00 p.m. Monday and conclude at 10:00 a.m. Thursdays. Retreat dates:
